kongkong was the solo project of Jani Hirvonen around 1997-2001, time before Uton. Two very limited edition tapes were released, but most of the recordings stayed unreleased.

Now in 2018 is time to change that, so the selected best parts will be released digitally in Bandcamp.

First release is this one called "Brain damage in Tampere City", which contains recordings from Tampere, 1999. The master tape didn't have any other information, except "end 1999", so it probably means these were mixed in the end of 1999... which means the tracks were recorded in the second part of 1999; probably... at least, very nearly like that.

Track order on this release is exactly the same as it was on the original cassette.

All tracks were recorded with 4-track cassette recorder, using electronic manipulation, electic guitar (prepared and out of tune), percussions, voice, flutes etc. No computers and digital stuff at that time.

Digitally edited & mastered in Turku, July-August 2018.
